On August 16, our team at Olson Personal Injury Lawyers was proud to sponsor the 30th Annual Cancer League of Colorado Race 4 Research 5K Run/Walk at Washington Park in Denver. The event brought together hundreds of runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors, and community members with one shared goal: supporting cancer research and improving the lives of those affected by cancer.
The Race 4 Research is one of Colorado’s longest-running charitable 5K events, benefiting the Cancer League of Colorado, a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to funding innovative cancer research and cancer-related services throughout the state.

How the Race 4 Research Started
The Race 4 Research was conceived in 1997 by friends of Michele Plachy-Rubin, a kindergarten teacher diagnosed with brain cancer in 1996. Michele walked the inaugural race with her young son that year, but tragically lost her battle with cancer in May 1998. Her legacy lives on through Cancer League of Colorado, which now operates the Race 4 Research, providing everyone the opportunity to help fight cancer in Michele’s memory.
Since its founding, this all-volunteer charity has raised and awarded $26 million for cancer research and cancer-related services in Colorado.
