How Do You Spot Elder Abuse?

Video Description:

You can spot nursing home abuse when you visit your loved ones in a number of different ways.

If they have skin tears or bruises or those sorts of things that no one has told you about before, they might be having falls that need to be reported to you.If you check their skin, and I know sometimes it can be insensitive areas, but if you see pressure injuries or sores on their body that might mean that they’re not taken to the bathroom as often as they should be or getting changed or having skin care done.

If you notice changes in their speech or their mental state that might mean they’re being overmedicated or not receiving the meds they need and it may even be a sign that they’ve got an infection brewing.

The way that you find signs of nursing home abuse, first and foremost, visit your family members frequently and if you do and you’re spotting signs that they’re falling, unreported skin tears or bruises, if you find that they’ve got pressure ulcers or pressure soles and they’re not being taken care of, if you find that there’s changes in mentation and you’re not sure what’s going on and no one’s telling you what’s going on, give us a call and we can help.
