Sean Olson founded Olson Personal Injury Lawyers with one clear mission: to help people who’ve been injured get the justice—and support—they need to move forward. Serving clients throughout Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming, Sean and his team have made it their purpose to stand up for the wrongfully injured and fight for fair outcomes. It’s a commitment they call Protecting the West. Sean and the attorneys at Olson Personal Injury Lawyers have backed up that mission by securing millions for their clients, and they point to multiple client testimonials that prove the firm’s commitment to justice.
Since 2012, Sean has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a top-rated personal injury attorney—an acknowledgment of his skill, experience, and dedication. His practice focuses on personal injury, medical malpractice, and nursing home abuse, and he’s helped secure millions of dollars for clients. But what matters most to Sean isn’t the numbers—it’s seeing the real difference those results make. Whether it’s funding life-saving medical care, making a home more livable after a serious injury, or helping a family find peace after tragedy, Sean is passionate about helping people rebuild.
He’s an active member of the legal communities in Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming, and has even returned to his alma mater—the University of Denver Sturm College of Law—to teach trial advocacy as an adjunct professor. For Sean, there’s nothing more meaningful than telling his clients’ stories in courtrooms across the country and seeing the relief on their faces when justice is done. That’s what drives him—and the entire Olson Personal Injury Lawyers team—every day.
Before becoming a lawyer, Sean built a successful career in journalism. He grew up in a small farming town in Wisconsin, then earned a degree in journalism and mass communication from Drake University in Iowa. He went on to work as an Emmy award-winning photojournalist, traveling the world and capturing stories behind the camera. But over time, he realized that simply observing wasn’t enough—he wanted to be the person who helped.
That calling led him to law school, where he graduated in the top one percent of his class. Practicing law gave Sean the chance to keep telling stories—but this time, he could actually help shape the ending.
Today, when he’s not in court or advocating for his clients, Sean lives in the Colorado foothills with his wife, their two incredible kids, and a small pack of beloved four-legged companions. He spends his downtime fly fishing, mountain biking, and helping his children discover their own paths. Through it all, Sean remains deeply committed to one goal: Protecting the West, one case at a time.
Sean Olson
“Being a personal injury lawyer gives me the opportunity to tell stories in the same way that I did when I worked behind the camera. It gives me the opportunity to get to know my clients, to learn their story, and to take that story and present it to a jury of their community members. I get to help those jurors understand who my client is, what happened to them, why it affected them so much, and why they, as jurors, should do something about it. That is why I became a personal injury attorney, and it is why I continue to tell the stories of injured Americans today”.
What Clients Say About Working with Sean Olson
“After a family member was badly injured by a car while he walking in a cross walk, the crushing need of immediate medical appointments, medicines, therapists, specialists… completely overwhelmed me, and stifled my ability of finding time to research, and find, an attorney I desperately needed in this situation. Asking friends for recommendations only half-heartedly produced any confident leads. However, I was fortunate to come across an adult law student who emphatically recommended Sean Olson, one of his law professors at Denver University. More importantly, it was the surprisingly unexpected reasons for his recommendation. They were based not only on Mr. Olson’s knowledge of the law, but more on how impressed this student was on how Mr. Olson answered student questions respectfully, and the way he seamlessly taught that compassion, empathy, and intellect, were just as important & necessary as diligence in navigating an injury case. As for my case, his attention to detail, ability to navigate all the hoops we were facing, and with earnestness – took a tremendous amount of stress off myself and brought my case to a successful conclusion. Additionally, even a couple of years after the settlement, Mr. Olsen continued to help navigate issues as they arose.”
- Mark Wilensky
“Sean represented me in a case that took over two and a half years to resolve. This case was a marathon that nobody expected would take as long as it did. Sean was ready for the fight. We were up against law firms that are much larger than his, but he had the resources to withstand their attempts to bury us in paperwork. As our court date was quickly approaching, Sean was able to negotiate a resolution that avoided the additional time, expense, and stress that is inevitable with a jury trial. I have never been involved in a legal dispute before. It turns out that it is terrifying to sue somebody, even if you know you are right. Throughout the entire case Sean was always available to speak to me personally, answer all of my questions, and provide guidance and support. I can’t thank him enough for helping me through this difficult time.”
- Margie Williams
“Sean Olson represented me for a medical malpractice lawsuit and secured a settlement that was as large as could reasonably be expected. Before choosing Olson, I interviewed four other attorneys; Olson was clearly the best fit for me. I suppose that there is nothing joyful or satisfying in the pursuit of any case that requires litigation but Sean’s bright attitude and cheerful demeanor made the process much more tolerable. I felt relieved and confident from the first day that I retained him. His consultative approach made me feel that I maintained sensible control of my own case with the security of being able to rely on his judgment, experience, and resources. As a career teacher I’ve learned that the teacher’s own character is the most potent idea in the classroom; I believe the same is true for a lawyer. Sean’s good and pleasant character help make him an effective negotiator and a potent force in the legal arena. I would not hesitate to use him again and I sincerely recommend him. The only thing preferable to retaining Olson would be simply to not need a lawyer in the first place.”
- David Stephen
“The events that led me to Sean were some of the hardest challenges I have had in my life. The unnecessary physical and mental impacts took its toll on me and my family. We were in resignation that no one would hear us or be held accountable. Sean changed that for me and my family. His empathy, understanding and passion to help us allowed us to be heard. Sean led us through the complex process and was always there to further explain and support us. I am forever grateful to Sean for having our story told, getting answers and holding the appropriate parties accountable. Thanks to Sean we are moving forward, not living in the past.”
- Beth Lackey

“We cannot thank Sean enough for the work he did for our family. We came to him during the worst time in our lives and he not only put us at ease, he walked us through every step and got us the best possible outcome. Sean is a breath of fresh air. He is extremely professional, polished, and meticulous. Even when he was told “no” more than once, he persisted and was able to get us an even bigger settlement. We cannot recommend Sean enough. If you need legal help, he’s your guy!”
- Lindsay Kocet
“Sean has been amazing through this whole thing. Since the day I called and asked him for his help he has been supportive and understanding. Sean has gone above and beyond to make sure that I feel confident and supported. My case was not the strongest (legally speaking there were risks that we would fail) but he saw the facts, my loss, and the responsibility (morally as well as financially) of the defendants. If ever I am in a position to need a lawyer I will definitely call him again. Highly recommend Sean Olson if you are in need of someone to fight for you and not falter.”
